Ministry in Mali Expanding the Influence of the Church
Story by Rev. Friday Ganda - Ministry Coordinator Burkina Faso
Celebrating the Growth of the Work in Mali
On Sunday, 23 May 2010, the first two Churches in Mali
were organized in the city of Bamako. The first church is
pastored by a ‘Mu’ brother who was converted over one
year ago. The other is pastored by a convert from the African
tribal religion. We now have two organized churches
and three Bible study groups underway in Mali.
We are now in the Timbuktu region. The Lord has officially
opened doors towards the north of the country. We have
been crying out to God for a long time for those of other religions
which have been moving from the north across the Sahara towards the equator, and now we are heading towards them and will not hesitate, but move aggressively until we cover North Africa and beyond.
Our brothers and sisters in the country of Mali do not know
anything about Christianity. We are teaching and raising
them up from the unknown to be strong in the Lord.
Yusuf , who we now call Joseph, was converted from another religion
last year in June when we first entered this country. He
opened his home to us and it is now used for Sunday worship
meetings and leadership training. His father, who did
not believe anything, died when he was young. Joseph
was raised by his uncle who is of another faith. Out of the
sixteen members of his family, Joseph has led five of
them to Christ; his mother and step mother, two young
sisters and a brother. His elder brother wanted to remove
him from the property, but he received the support of their
mother. We thank the Lord for a whole week of training,
teaching, and Jesus Film showings in the same compound
without any incidents.
Pastor Abubakar was converted from another religion last
year in June also. He now pastors our Niamakoro Church
of the Nazarene with a congregation of 18 in the Bamako area.
Joseph and Abubakar will attend pastoral training in Ouagadougou
in August. Joseph currently coordinates the work in Mali. He has an evangelistic heart to bring the people of the north of Mali to Christ.
Prayer Needs:
1. Pray for the work in this country which is dominated by
non-Christian beliefs. Our Lord is Able.
2. Pray for funds to train these people who are coming
from a dark world.
3. Pray for our church to reach these people for Christ.
Jesus loves them. Our Church needs them.
