My life Story

Rev. Sam Lama was recently appointed as the District Superintendent of the Liberia Central district.  This district was inaugurated at the 2010 district assembly of the Monrovia district.  The growth of the church and expansion of churches in this vast area required the multiplication of this district.

Personal Testimony of Rev. Sam Lama

At the age of ten, I accepted Christ and started to go to church. None of my parents, including my elderly brothers and sisters were christians. In 1982, I rededicated my life at a Scripture Union Revival Service in Sanniquellie. I went to Cuttington University second semester in 1983.

I made my own plan of acquiring  higher education without letting God be a part of it. I met with frustration. I was in and out of school for lack of tuition and I became depressed. After going through four semester in that manner, I took advantage of  a Bible School  that was offering a Diploma in Biblical Studies, again , after one year , the war in Liberia interrupted my studies.

The Bible school was transfered to Monrovia; I had to choose between running back home and going to Monrovia to finish my studies, I chose the latter, tough at a high risk of life because my ethnic group was accused of  collaborating with the rebels, so they were discriminated hunted and killed. I asked the Lord to spare my life and vow to return home with the gospel.

The Lord did and I returned home in 1992 and began a Bible study in our house. A friend sent a copy of the Manual of the Church of the Nazarene, I read it and saw in it things I was hungry for and I had to go for it. I led 12 persons to Cote d’Ivoire to meet Rev. Seamen and to be part of the Doctrine of Holiness class . The class ignited me and the Spirit of God filled my emptiness, frustration, and quest.

I  returned home and the Bible study became the First Church of the Nazarene in Nimba.  The Nazarene fire grew and today, we have the Liberia Central District with more than 50 congregations.
