We want to make your trip as memorable as possible.  Not only will your team work on the project, but you will also have a chance to be involved in ministry with the local churches.  The town of Abak will give you more a rural setting and a little slower pace than the big city of Lagos.

Opportunities to work with children’s ministries, youth camps, AIDS training programs in the schools, and Jesus Film outreach events are all possible.

Your travel plans would include arriving in the city of Port Harcourt.  You would then travel by bus several hours to Abak.
From the US tickets are costing approximately $1600 - 1800 depending on your travel dates.  Visas into Nigeria must be obtained from the Embassy in your country of residence. US citizens can expect to pay about $150 for your visa.

While in Abak you will stay at a nice guest house very close to the district center.  Accommodations generally run approximately $20 per person per night staying double.  Transport for the team will be arranged by our local leaders and is usually small mini-buses.

The local currency is called Niarra and is exchanged at about 118 niarra per 1 USD.  While in Abak you will get a chance to taste the local Nigerian cuisine with our Nazarene family members.
The base food in Nigeria is a rice base with a spicy meat sauce that can include beef, chicken, or fish. They also eat “garri” which is made from cassava into a soft mound and dipped in a tomato based sauce with ochre flavored with fish oil and other spices.

A trip to Nigeria will be an experience of a life time so we hope you come enjoy the hospitality of our fellow Nigerian Nazarenes and encourage them with your presence and support.

Center Location:

Abak , Nigeria

Our district center in the southeastern part of Nigeria has been a huge blessing to our church.  It has brought a sense of unity to the church and an identity.  The project was launched by the local churches who raised several thousand dollars along with alabaster funds to get the building to the first stage.

We now are asking for teams to come help us finish what has begun.  To  finish and secure the building and complete the interior details to make it into a useful training center and gathering point for the district.

Construction will require approximately $20,000 USD for completion.  We hope to have two Work and Witness teams each bringing $10,000 to help complete this important facility.  For more information please contact Tim Eby in the Africa West Field office at: teby@awfcon.org
