News Update: May 2008

Update from DS Alex Akomaning

We rejoice in the eight new churches that have been planted at Tamale.
The new churches to be reached in the Tamale area are through the help of Pastor Simon.  Please pray for this pastor as he discovers new ways of opening churches.  Two  Pre-schools have been started at Tamale through Jesus Film shows.

A well has been dug at the Kumasi District Centre site to help in the construction work of the
centre and as source of water supply for the community. The district project is developing for the Midland District and we are expecting a team in July to begin construction on the main training center.

About four (4) new churches are being planted in the Northern Area

The Akumadan Church has had one week of revival services. The Coastal District has planted three new churches in three months and is now having seven new areas to go. I am going to be involved more in this and encourage the churches to do more. Having seen the low churches finanancial contributions, I am organizing leadership training soon after this conference to encourage Pastors/ Leaders.

Jesus Film outreach program is very active on the district as a tool for evangelism and church planting. Two ministers were ordained in December 07 and others who are on the list for the next ordination are being encouraged to take their courses of studies seriously. Courses of studies for pastors is steadily on course in the district. Pastors on the coastal District have been asked to look out for new areas to start church planting. With this we hope to have at least 10 new churches started by the end of the year for CPM. We have 7 new areas in focus.

News Update:  (March 2008)

Written by Tim Eby

Ghana has celebrated several victories this year. A national leadership day was called and pastors and leaders gathered from the different districts to search the word together and to launch a new vision for the implanting of churches.

Our coastal district is led by Rev. Daniel Odame.  Though the churches have experienced minimal growth, Rev. Odame has called for new emphasis on pastoral training and has a goal of opening 25 new churches across the district.

The Midland district is led by Rev. Alex Akomaning and he has inspired his pastors to launch a new vision of growth.   This year land was purchased for the district property and we have a work and witness team arriving in July to begin construction on the training center.

Several churches on the district have developed compassionate ministries projects that are making an impact on their communities and their churches.  In the north we are seeing dedicated Jesus Film team leaders expanding the work of the church.  Continue to pray for them that God will open new doors for the church to be planted.

Rev. Phil Carr continues to provide direction for the church growth and manage the Jesus Film teams across the Africa West Field.
An important part of church growth is the development of good literature.  In Accra, under the direction of John Watton we have our West Africa Nazarene Publishing house located in Accra, Ghana.
We praise God for the many thousands of books that have been printed this year already and for the many projects in discipleship and pastoral training that will be printed in the months to come ahead.
