News Update: May 2008

Everything started on the 20th of January 2007.

LA CASA DA SOPA – MINDELO is a project from the NAZ Mission, INT of our local Nazarene Church aimed at helping to meet the needs of poor people who normally come to the street on Saturdays to beg  and ask for clothing assistance.

So we have established this project to help them and to share the word of God with them. We also give them health Education training on First Aid.

Each month we give them food and clothing.

This project  was made possible due to the support of the members of the church et the social worker’s committee; Aid from people in the community who has observed the seriousness of this project.

This has been a golden opportunity for the church to win souls for Christ drown by the affection that was given to these poor people in need..

News Update: March 2008

Cape Verde is the mature Church of the Nazarene in West Africa.  Our Church already celebrates more than
100 years of ministry in these beautiful islands.  Dr. Eugenio Duarte who is the Regional Director for all of Africa comes from Cape Verde and is a major influential leader in framing the future for Africa.

Under the administration of Rev. David Emanual Aruajo as District Superintendent, the district continues to grow and has begun to work into new territories.
They are beginning to ask “Where are we not” on the islands of Cape Verde.

We are seeing this district change from being a receiving church to a giving church.  Cape Verde has a great deal to offer in reaching other Portuguese countries in West Africa like Guinea Bissau.  It is our prayer that young pastors will be challenged to go as missionaries to these new countries to spread the gospel.

Across the island we have many well established churches as well as new mission churches just beginning.
The islands offer a seminary where future leaders are being developed.  This year marks a new approach to education as the administration seeks to   find ways to utilize extension education to bring up lay leaders.

Pray that the Church in Cape Verde
will continue to be a strong influence in the community life on the islands and that we will see new churches developing all across Cape Verde.
