Update:  November 2010

Rev. Friday Ganda

It is has been over two years since we arrived here and laid a foundation on training the first nationals who would take the mantle from us and continue with the Great Commission. Today the 2nd of October 2010 marks the beginning of saying, yes we won them, nurtured  and trained them, and they graduated from an intensive theological training which gives them the ability to understand and lead their  beloved church.

Mary and I could not hold our tears as we presented and watched the first nine pastors and one layperson who have successfully finished their courses for Diploma and Certificate in Theology  respectively, and receive their documents.  Four of them graduated with Diploma in Theology while six have Certificate in Theology.

As I looked at the eyes of the happy graduates and their families and friends, I said, "Lord let me deploy them!" What a time it was to watch the fruits of our labour.

Join us in CELEBRATION. God is good and Faithful. Our eyes are looking beyond today for what God will do in the future!!

News Update: November 2009

Rev. Konan Koffi Germain

This year our work is beginning to expand from Nouna even into Mali.  In Nouna we have 15 churches. There are now 4 churches that are in Mali for the Nazarene church.  We have expanded to 4 churches in the south and 6 churches in the East.  We have a new zone near the Ghana border where 8 churches and a new zone is developing with Pastor Mathias.  On the road toward Benin there are 3 churches that have just developed.  The churches have been started in clusters for the general support of each other.

Ouaga has also seen development and the local area is now divided into two zones.  We see the future of four districts.  Our goal is 100 churches and 1,000 members.

There are our four pastoral teachers who come here to Ouagadougou quarterly for two courses to go and re-teach. Right now they have gone through four courses:

1. Orientation to Ministry in the Church of the Nazarene.

2. Spiritual Formation.

3. Survey of the Bible

4. Christian Theology I

We taught them the first two courses in February. We are teaching them the second two in May. Our next quarter will be in the 1st week of August. Every course is 40 hrs.

The number of teachers will increase as the churches grow.  Each time the teachers are taught a course they re-teach them as soon as they get back to their Zones.

We have divided Burkina Faso District into Four Teaching Centers:

1. Tampouy

2. Nouna

3. Galilee

4. Diebougou

There are four key teachers that are receiving the classes and then return to their areas to teach the pastors.  These local leaders speak Moore and transfer the information on to others.  They come for two weeks to train and then go out.  In Ouga there are two zones north and central with eight students each.  There are eight students in Nouna and 12 students in Diebougou.

There h
as been a women’s retreat that was attended well and also a children’s event.  There were 80 children for four days of training and activities.  The children learned the first steps and then went out into the neighborhood to evangelize the neighborhood.  They also had training on nature for the children.

Our slogan is

“Not a step without Holiness” and we have seen some great changes on the district.

News Update: May 2008

District Assembly

It was a very important event for our District. A time of friendly fellowship.  It was also a time of listening to reports from  the district missions, the youth and the pastor’s wives, the auxiliaries of the church and the presentation of new members.

The Children’s Camp

This camp was organized at a time when all the children where free from their schooling activities and gave attention to the study of the word of God.

The Youth Camp

It was a  time of youth creative activities and a  friendly fellowship. We did share ideas about HIV AIDS and gave encouragement to the youth as they express their thanksgiving to God for his Grace.

The Women’s Day

The was a day when the women presented all their activities starting from preaching to choir ministry ; a time when all the women reflected on their calling into the ministry backed by praises and worship.

News Udate

(March 2008)

The church in Burkina has faced some challenges over the past few years.  Many of the churches have had wind damage to their buildings and have lost their roofs.
We praise God for the team that is coming this summer from Alabama to help construct the first permanent zonal church training center.

New leaders are emerging in the church and with the help of the Jesus film new churches are being opened.  A major blessing to the church was the construction of a school, with the help of our Work & Witness team from Virginia, that has reached out to its community.
These children continue to learn not only their basic elementary studies but also are raised in the ways of the Lord.

Pray that God would continue to pour out His spirit on the church in Burkina and that there would be a sense of unity and purpose in reaching the lost for Christ.
