March 2011, Update by Rev. Frank Mills

                        DS Ghana North

This past month, the Zone leader of the Tamale area organized the youth of all the local churches within the zone to help make some cement blocks for the construction of the zone centre at Samkpala.

Baptism of members took place across the local churches in the District. Most members requested that they are Baptized during the Easter convention. DS will be Baptizing the 47 people on the 24th April.

The DAB and zone leaders met to plan on improving a
ccountability and records regarding funds that comes from the district three wheel vehicle. All agreed that it is a very good income generating project that is helping the district in many ways and we will be able to raise more funds from this project than we are doing now if accountability and strategies are revisited. We also agreed to not neglect the regular maintenance and serving of the vehicle in order for it to last long.

Three Pastors Mathias Salifu, Samson Mortik and Emmanuel Sibelia where ordained this past month by Dr Graves the GS. The DAB held a short meeting with these 3 gentlemen and their wives to congratulate them and to remind them to be ready to serve more radically and whole heartedly than before. The district is counting on them and praying with them as they help
move the district forward in all areas.

DS and DAB discussed the possibility of assisting to move one of our ordained ministers to the northern areas to serve as a zone leader. He asked the ordained ministers to pray about this and to let the DAB know if any of them is convinced that the Lord is sending him to minister to the people of Tamale area.

The district purchased a new modem to replace the faulty internet modem for our BTH online student Pastor Mathias Salifu.

The DS visited Pastors and leaders of 4 newly planted churches to his home. They stayed for two days and studied from the ORIENTATION TO MINISTRY course book. It was a great time as these new leaders asked many valid questions and received right responses. DS also mentioned the need for the new congregations to plan towards a good administration and the immediate formation of a local board according to our Manual. He talked on the importance of paying Offerings, Tithe and district goals.

June 2010, Update by Rev. Frank Mills

                   DS Ghana North

This month, we concentrated much on training more workers for the Jesus film team and operation of the equipments. Each local church sent 2 people to the JF training workshop. The district JF coordinator Pastor Mathias Salifu met with the people the whole day for the training.

After the training, four people where chosen to go with the JF coordinator to show the film in a distance village and to plant a church. It was amazing how the people learned so much from the practicing and the experiencing part. They faced a lot of difficulties on the way but they managed to get to the destination, show the film and planted a church.

We received 15 boxes of theological books for our library this month. The DAB met to think of best practices to make our Library a meaningful one and how to protect the books and at the same time make them available for people to come read and to do research.

The Namankwan church members. parents and few people from the community came together to raise 3 more classrooms for the increasing pupils of the school. The people dug mud and molded bricks and raised the 3 room structure. We are now putting plans in place to get the 3 rooms roofed for immediate use.

Three local churches held children quizzing competitions amongst themselves. The children really read the chapters given to them from the book for Matthew and they did very well in responding to the quizzing questions. We are planning to have a children's quizzing competition at the district level in a couple of months.

The Lord is at work in the northern part of Ghana in the church. I can see much maturity among the people and the churches. We continue to pray for unity among the people. With the JF newly trained personnel, we hope to have more churches planted as the equipments move round the villages with capable people to operate and plant churches.

We have some child development centers  that are creating some open doors in the community.  Three centers are working regularly and impacting their community.  There was a children’s ministry week that was successful.  They are bringing in their friends.

There are eight zones that are each opening churches.  They each begin the work and then the JFP equipment comes to help evangelize and strengthen churches.

The Jesus Film equipment team brought new equipment and the YIM team did a lot of good work with the children.

The ITN classes have come from seven students to 28 students this year in two centers.  We are having more classes developing and the local churches are participating.

They have 26 new churches this year and more than 1,300 new members to the church.  Local churches are creating self-sustaining projects like pigs and guinea fowls.  They have created mutual savings and loan banks so that they can have projects and other means to sustain their ministries and to support leaders and new works.
