Our primary goal is to complete the District training center in Ouagadougou. This is our central place where we bring our pastoral teachers quarterly to take courses which they go back to re-teach. It will also be used to hold District Assemblies, DS office, Library, Classrooms, Dormitory, and Kitchen.

There are two separate buildings.  The first is the training center which is now complete and in use with our pastors and leaders.  The second phase is to build additional housing with a small dormitory and visitors cabin.

Phase I

Completed

Phase II

Build a small dormitory building and visitor’s cabin.  Additional work on covering the main area with tents for district assemblies is also a need that a team may help to design and build.

Zone Centers

Our plan for the iron truss building in storage is for it to be used at the proposed Zonal training centers. Right now we have three Zones outside of Ouagadougou where we have work going on. Namely, Nouna, Fadan Guorma, and Diebougou.  This iron structure will be used at one of these centers to help facilitate training in the remote areas.

A trip to Burkina Faso will be a great experience for your team.  You will arrive in Ouagadougou the capitol city, and stay at a local guest house.  There are several to chose from ranging from about $15 per room to up to $35 per room.  Your team will be transported in rented vans that cost about $75 per day.

Most locations in the city can be reached in about 15 minutes by taxi.  Taxis operate like public transport with each person paying $1 to $2 for a seat.  Eating out at the local restaurants cost between $5 to $7 for a meal.  Total ground cost for a team will average at $40 per day.

There is an animal safari about 3 hours drive from the main city.  There you will see basic African animals like elephants, giraffe, gazelle, and other small animals like monkeys.  Team members should expect to pay at least $50 extra for each person to visit the animal park.

There are opportunities to do ministry with the local churches.  We have a clinic just out in a village about an hour drive from the city.  Clinics can be set up for medical personnel.  Kids clubs with other local churches are also ministry opportunities and working with the zone for major youth events would be a huge blessing as well.

Alabama Team Story

Construction of the entire district center will require approximately $50,000 USD for completion.  We have already completed the first phase of the center and need 2 Work and Witness teams each bringing $10,000 to help complete this important facility.

The first project was to complete the training center which is already in use.

The second project will be to develop a dormitory building and visitors cabin.  There are also worship centers in key zonal areas that can be raised.  One such structure has already been developed and is waiting for a team to help us stand it up and raise the walls.

For more information please contact Rev. Friday Ganda, ministries coordinator for Burkina Faso at FGanda@awfcon.org or Tim Eby in the Africa West Field office at: teby@awfcon.org
